The VAEX Group are specialised traders in piglets and slaughter pigs, sows, heifers and cattle. The company in Reek, the Netherlands, operates internationally and with its private fleet services the whole of Europe and even some countries beyond that. Operational management of the company is the responsibility of Pim and Dirk Govers. They are supported in all this by Leo Govers, the founder.

The family name has been associated with the trade in pigs and piglets for many years. Members of the family have been operating in this sector from generation to generation. Trading started on a regional level, growing nationally later on. In 1974, Toon and Leo Govers founded Gebroeders Govers Reek BV. The brothers expanded the business past national borders and turned Govers into a household name in Europe. In 1992, the company changed its name to VAEX. Meanwhile, the younger generation has worked its way up in the family business. Since 2005, Pim (son of Toon) and Dirk (son of Leo) form part of the Board of Directors. Together with their 65-strong workforce they make sure that VAEX continues to grow.
